Pashupati i.e. lord Shiva, the God of destroyer is the first venerable God and is one of the holiest pilgrimage for Hindus. First of all, the Pashupati Temple was established by Gunkamadev, a Lichhivi King and was renovated by Malla kings. The temple is situated by the Bagmati River. The main features of this temple are its architect and splendor. The pagoda style temple shows its great grandeur of stone and wood caving and pattern on gold and silver plated walls and doors. Around Pashupati Temple there are many Hindu and Buddhist temples. Some of the famous temples are Bhairab, Bashukinag, Kali, Nawadurga temple, Bishwarupa, Guhweshwori, and Kirantshwor etc.
The thick forest with monkeys has added the beauty of the temple and its surrounding.
